Appeal Dismissed and Memorandum Opinion filed October 27, 2026. In The Fifteenth Court of Appeals NO. 15-26-00129-CV NADIA KHALIL, Appellant V. TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION, FORT BEND ISD, Appellees On Appeal from the 268th District Court Fort Bend County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. 21-DCV-287736 MEMORANDUM OPINION Appellant Nadia Khalil’s brief was originally due on May 22, 2026. On Khalil’s motions, the deadline was extended to August 21, 2026. On August 20, 2026, Khalil filed a third motion to extend the deadline to file her brief. On September 3, 2026, we granted the motion and ordered her to file her brief by October 5, 2026. We cautioned Khalil that if she failed to file her brief by this deadline, her appeal would be subject to dismissal without further notice for want of prosecution. See Tex. R. App. 38.8(a). To date, Khalil has not filed an appellant’s brief. 1 Accordingly, we dismiss the appeal for want of prosecution. See Tex. R. App. P. 42.3(b). PER CURIAM Panel consists of Chief Justice Brister and Justices Field and Farris. 1 On October 5, 2026, Khalil filed a motion requesting that we abate her appeal and remand the case to the trial court for the appointment of counsel. See Tex. Gov’t Code § 24.016 (granting trial court discretion to appoint counsel to indigent civil litigants). Because we cannot conclude that the public and private interests at stake in this case are “so exceptional that the administration of justice may be best served” by the appointment of counsel, we deny the motion. See Gibson v. Tolbert, 102 SW.3d 710, 713 (Tex. 2003) (concluding that trial court did not abuse discretion in refusing to appoint counsel where record did not demonstrate exceptional circumstances); Reed v. Tex. Dep’t of Crim. Justice Inst. Div., No. 01-02-00734-CV, 2003 WL 21545122, at *1 (Tex. App.—Houston [1st Dist.] 2003, no pet.) (mem. op.) (denying appellant’s motion for appointment of appellate counsel).
