[Cite as State ex rel. Woodall v. Wilson, 2026-Ohio-4107.] IN THE COURT OF APPEALS OF OHIO ELEVENTH APPELLATE DISTRICT TRUMBULL COUNTY STATE OF OHIO ex rel. CASE NO. 2026-T-0056 DASIA N. WOODALL, Petitioner, Original Action for Writ of Habeas Corpus - vs - MICHAEL G. WILSON, TRUMBULL COUNTY SHERIFF, Respondent. PER CURIAM OPINION AND JUDGMENT ENTRY Decided: October 19, 2026 Judgment: Petition dismissed Laura O. Berzonski, Trumbull County Public Defender, 108 Main Avenue, S.W., Suite 302C, Warren, OH 44481 (For Petitioner). Dennis Watkins, Trumbull County Prosecutor; Charles L. Morrow and William J. Danso, Assistant Prosecutors, Administration Building, Fourth Floor, 160 High Street, N.W., Warren, OH 44481 (For Respondent). PER CURIAM. {¶1} On June 18, 2026, petitioner, Dasia N. Woodall, commenced this habeas corpus action against respondent, Michael G. Wilson, Trumbull County Sheriff, claiming she is confined without bond under a municipal court order entered in violation of R.C. 2937.222. On June 25, 2026, Sheriff Wilson moved to dismiss the petition on the grounds of an adequate remedy at law. Woodall did not respond to the motion to dismiss. {¶2} Woodall is no longer being held under the municipal court’s no-bond order as pled in her petition. See Warren Municipal Court case No. 2026 CRA 001050; Trumbull County Common Pleas Court case No. 2026 CR 00531; and Warren Municipal Court case No. 2026 CRB 001625. Accordingly, Woodall’s petition is moot and, consequently, so is Sheriff Wilson’s motion to dismiss. See Donald Sullivan, L.L.C. v. Reynolds, 2026-Ohio-596, ¶ 8, quoting State ex rel. Cincinnati Enquirer v. Dupuis, 2002- Ohio-7041, ¶ 8 (“‘[a]n event that causes a case to become moot may be proved by extrinsic evidence outside the record’”). {¶3} We dismiss as moot Woodall’s petition for a writ of habeas corpus and overrule as moot Sheriff Wilson’s motion to dismiss. {¶4} Petition dismissed. MATT LYNCH, P.J., ROBERT J. PATTON, J., SCOTT LYNCH, J., concur. PAGE 2 OF 3 Case No. 2026-T-0056 JUDGMENT ENTRY For the reasons stated in the per curiam opinion of this court, the petition for a writ of habeas corpus is dismissed as moot.
