IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF KANSAS No. 127,197 In the Matter of MARK A. SAMSEL, Respondent. ORDER OF DISCHARGE FROM PROBATION On June 14, 2024, the court suspended Mark A. Samsel's Kansas law license for two years and stayed the suspension conditioned on Samsel successfully completing two years of probation. In re Samsel, 318 Kan. 910, 924-25, 549 P.3d 1122 (2024). Two years have now passed, and Samsel filed a motion for discharge from probation. He attached his affidavit and an affidavit from his supervising attorney describing Samsel's compliance with his probation terms and conditions. The Office of the Disciplinary Administrator (ODA) responded that Samsel complied with his probation terms and conditions and is eligible for discharge. See Supreme Court Rule 227(g) (2026 Kan. S. Ct. R. at 283) (outlining the process for a motion for discharge). The ODA stated no objection to discharging Samsel from probation. The court notes the ODA's response, grants Samsel's motion, and fully discharges him from probation. The court also assesses any remaining costs of this proceeding to Samsel. Accordingly, this disciplinary proceeding is closed. The court directs the Reporter of Decisions to publish this order in the Kansas Reports. Dated this 20th day of October 2026.
