2 Opinion of the Court 25-13866
This appeal is DISMISSED, sua sponte, for lack of jurisdic-
tion. Rolanda Johnson-Shorter appeals from the district court’s or-
der granting the defendants’ motion to dismiss. However, on Au-
gust 31, 2026, the district court vacated the dismissal order for lack
of subject matter jurisdiction and remanded the case to state court.
Thus, this appeal is now moot, as it no longer presents a live case
or controversy. Zinni v. ER Solutions, 692 F.3d 1162, 1166 (11th Cir.
2012) (explaining that a federal court has no authority to give opin-
ions upon moot questions or abstract propositions, or to declare
principles or rules of law which cannot affect the matter in issue in
the case before it); Friends of Everglades v. S. Fla. Water Mgmt. Dist.,
570 F.3d 1210, 1216 (11th Cir. 2009) (“An issue is moot when it no
longer presents a live controversy with respect to which the court
can give meaningful relief.” (quotation marks omitted)); Mobley v.
Palm Beach Cty. Sheriff Dep’t, 783 F.3d 1347, 1352 (11th Cir. 2015)
(explaining that we must dismiss moot appeals for lack of jurisdic-
tion). Accordingly, we lack jurisdiction over the appeal.
