Jay Colin Brown was convicted of felony murder and other crimes and sentenced to life in prison. He filed a motion for new trial, which the trial court denied, and he has filed an appeal in this Court. The Supreme Court of Georgia currently exercises jurisdiction over all “non- death-penalty murder appeals,” and this Court is required to transfer such cases. See Hart v. State, 322 Ga. 1, 10(1) (917 SE2d 631) (2025). But see Coleman v. State, Case No. S26A0859 (August 13, 2026) (announcing the Supreme Court’s intent to cease exercising direct appellate jurisdiction in non-death-penalty murder cases docketed after July 1, 2027). Accordingly, we hereby TRANSFER this appeal to the Supreme Court for disposition.
