Myrone Latrone Bailey was convicted of malice murder and other crimes and sentenced to life plus twenty-five years in prison. He filed a motion for new trial, which the trial court denied, and he has filed an appeal in this Court. The Supreme Court of Georgia currently exercises jurisdiction over all “non- death-penalty murder appeals,” and this Court is required to transfer such cases. See Hart v. State, 322 Ga. 1, 10(1) (917 SE2d 631) (2025). See also Coleman v. State, __ Ga. __ (934 SE2d 378) (2026) (announcing the Supreme Court’s intent to cease exercising direct appellate jurisdiction in non-death-penalty murder cases docketed after July 1, 2027).
